Foreign investors should familiarise themselves with Australia’s foreign investment framework and ensure they comply with the law.
To renew or extend a prior use rights title, you must seek consent from the Minister for the Environment before the Joint Authority can grant approval. You need to submit an Application for consent form to Australian Marine Parks, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
‘Prior use rights’ are petroleum titles that overlap Commonwealth marine reserves. These titles were granted before the reserve was established. This relates section 359 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Protection Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
