Titleholders must submit data using the format and medium specified by the Titles Administrator (TA). This relates to well and survey submissions.
This is required under the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Resource, Management and Administration) Regulations 2025 (RMA Regulations).

The 2011 RMA Regulations list the formats and media types for well and survey data submissions in Schedules 1–5.
The 2025 RMA Regulations replace Schedules 1–5 with sections 139 and 188. This change empowers the TA to determine the format and the medium for data in relation to prescribed provisions in Parts 7 and 9 of the regulations.

The Specified format and medium for data instrument applies to well, survey and reprocessed survey activities that commence on or after 31 March 2026. This is the date the 2025 RMA Regulations commence.
For activities that commenced prior to 31 March 2026, you must submit data in accordance with Schedules 1–5 of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2011 on legislation.gov.au.
