National Offshore Petroleum Information Management System (NOPIMS)

05 August 2015

The National Offshore Petroleum Information Management System (NOPIMS) is now available for use as an on-line data discovery and delivery system for Australian offshore petroleum wells and seismic surveys.

The initial release of NOPIMS was made at the  Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) conference in May 2015.  Data coverage and completeness in this initial release is limited to reports and data for open-file wells and surveys after 1 January 2012 and selected data for the 2015 Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release.

Over time, NOPIMS will be progressively populated with reports and data for all offshore petroleum wells and seismic surveys. Reports and data for wells and surveys not contained within NOPIMS can be requested directly from Geoscience Australia by contacting ausgeodata@ga.gov.au.

Future releases of NOPIMS will allow clients to search for information on cores, cuttings, gases, fluids, and slides held in the National Offshore Petroleum Data and Core Repository—a collaboration between Geoscience Australia, NOPTA, and the Geological Survey of Western Australia. Presently, clients can search for this information using PIMS online http://dbforms.ga.gov.au/pls/www/npm.pims_web.search and http://www.dmp.wa.gov.au/4187.aspx.

Access to the full functionality of NOPIMS requires registration and use of a password controlled log in. You can create an account by pressing the NOPIMS Access and Help tab on the homepage.

Further information on NOPIMS and updates on the level of data available will be provided through the NOPTA website or by emailing data@nopta.gov.au.
